This painting is a celebration of this ancient Celtic ritual through the eyes of the famous Beltane Fire Society. I have combined the traditional symbology associated with Beltane, with the unique characters and stories of the annual Fire Society event.
Hand painted using acrylic gouache on the highest quality cold pressed watercolour paper, this painting is different to the printed poster, which left space for the festival information, and has been filled with additional spring blooms.
The painting is currently on display at Black Moon Bontanica, 41 Thistle Street, Edinburgh.
The painting itself is 420×594mm with a 63mm off white window mount and a 38mm dark wooden frame, fronted with glass. Total size is 622×796mm.
